One of the biggest challenges when designing a luxury French-inspired home is creating a residence that feels elegant and timeless without becoming overly traditional or financially excessive. Maison de Solenne was designed to achieve exactly that balance.

From the beginning, the clients envisioned a modern interpretation of a French Provincial home, combining classic architectural character with softer contemporary detailing. A key part of the brief was the incorporation of curves throughout the design, helping the home feel more relaxed, flowing and welcoming while still maintaining a strong sense of grandeur.

Spanning five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a dedicated theatre room and a four-car garage, Maison de Solenne was carefully designed around both lifestyle and budget. One of the major advantages of working with a true design and build company is the ability to balance architectural ambition with construction cost from the earliest stages of the project.

Because the design and construction teams at Carmel Homes worked collaboratively throughout the process, key architectural features were carefully prioritised and cost-managed from day one. This allowed the clients to invest in the elements that mattered most to them while maintaining confidence and control over the overall budget.

Curved Architecture and Timeless Detailing

Throughout the home, soft curves and carefully layered architectural detailing create a sense of warmth and sophistication. A dramatic double-height void introduces natural light deep into the floorplan while adding a feeling of openness and scale upon arrival.

The sculptural spiral staircase acts as a centrepiece within the home, framed by elegant coffered ceilings and oversized arched steel doors that reinforce the modern French character of the design. In the main living area, a statement marble fireplace creates a refined focal point, balancing luxury with a sense of comfort and everyday liveability.

European oak solid timber flooring flows throughout the residence, bringing warmth and texture to the interiors. Natural stone benchtops, bespoke joinery and carefully layered finishes further elevate the sense of craftsmanship throughout the home.

Premium Miele appliances enhance the functionality of the kitchen and butler’s pantry, ensuring the spaces are equally suited to entertaining and daily family life. Every finish and material was selected to feel timeless rather than trend-driven, allowing the home to retain its elegance for many years to come.
